7.10 SWC Components
Macromedia introduced the concept of SWC components in Macromedia Flash MX 2004. Components are generally complex parts of an application that can be packaged and reused in multiple applications. An SWC component represents a software component distributed as a single file that contains both the functionality of the component and the dependencies of the component. Commonly SWC components are used to stored visual components for user interface design but they can also be used to encapsulate non-visual components for application control, configuration and communication.
SWC components are no directly represented within an SWF movie. Instead, the contents of the components - the symbols, scripts, and resources - are merged into the output SWF.
