7.6 Movie Clips
Movie clips, also called Sprites, are symbols that act as containers for animations. A movie clips is essentially a symbol that contains a timeline that runs at the rate of the main movie timeline but is otherwise independent of the timeline. Pausing or rewinding the main timeline does not affect the timeline of any MovieClip symbol. They can be seen as small SWF movies inside your main movie that allow you to modularize your program, grouping elements that can be reused.
